A Shikara on the Dal Lake is one of the chief ornaments of the Kashmir valley. It is situated to the east of Srinagar. (The word 'Dal' signifies an expanse of water.) It is 4 miles long and 2.5 miles broad and covers an area of about 10 square miles.
