After Ramsar conference, the issue of East Calcutta biosphere once again draws the attention of world environmental scenario. Clear verdict of 1988 Calcutta UNEP conference was to make a conservation strategy of East Calcutta biosphere immidiately.
(1988) Govt of West Bengal, Govt. of Indian, Asian Institute of Technology, World Bank, FAO, GT2 sponsored a UNEP conference at Calcutta particularly on East Calcutta bio-sphere. and waste water agriculture.
Upto date list of veries (dykes) holdings. Now there are various kinds of dyke ownership (1) private owner (2) fishermen co-operative (3) governmental holding (4) private owners co- operative (5) vested. Under the guidance of dr. Dhrubajyoti Ghosh (IWMED)made this comprehensive list of dykes. Possesers, no. of fishermen families and other details (1988).
Location for Ramsar conference (Amsterdam -1992). Conference identifies the wise use of Calcutta city waste as one of the significant ones in the list of 17 case studies from all over the world.
